Q: Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?
My reading habits don't really change with my mood. Most of the time, I'm just happy and I read whatever I feel like and as many books as I can. But if I'm stressed, I noticed that I tend to go for the easier books; like fairytales and retellings (although I practically read them all the time.) Those books are so easy and sweet. There is a magical feeling, a nice storyline and there's always a happy ending.
Oh, I lied! Now I think about it, there is one thing that changes: the amount of books. If I'm really busy and stressed, I read less books than average.

When I'm on vacation I'm in a real reading mood. I want to read all day long, just laying in the sun with some lemonade with ice cubes. And that's all I do at the moment, haha, I love it! It's so warm and sunny here in France <3 It's around 30 degrees now. I wish we had this weather in The Netherlands!
One reading habit I really like: the fact that I can read several books at the same time, without any trouble! I like to switch, although there is always one favorite - that's the one I'll finish first.
Keep reading, happy friday and link me up with your reading habits!

I definitely agree with you, Mel! I read less books when I'm busy/stressed, and when I'm on holiday I get through about ten books a week. Great answer! :)

ReplyDeleteYaaaa!! Lemonade!!! Fantastic answer, Mel, and you're just like me!! I need sweet, easy reads when I'm depressed as well >_< Retellings are probably the best to go to for me...there's just something very comforting about them ^_^ and woah O_O You talented multi-tasker!! I can't do that!!!

Ugh I love fairytale retellings so much. I want to read one so bad now that I've read your post LOL. I agree though, fairytales are nice when you'r stressed because they're sweet and fun and have a happy ending!
ReplyDelete& Thanks for stopping by my FF ! -old follower- (:
Oh Mel, just a tad (as in majorly) jealous of your location. Next to where I am in Denver, CO, France is my most favorite place. If I was there I would be all about the laying about with lemonade and good book. That certainly would help my mood!

Great answer. I haven't read too many fairytale retellings, I'll have to look into them. Thanks for stopping by our FF.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Mel. I do think that sometimes my reading influences my mood though haha so I guess you can say the opposite of the prompt!
ReplyDeleteGreat answer...I'm your newest follower :)
I read several books at the same time too, switching back n forth without any problems. I think its usually because i'm enjoying one or the other and dont want it to end

My reading habits aren't ever really effected by my mood. I read my paranormals despite my mood. They tend to put me in a better mood too!

Great answer this week Mel! I totally agree :)
ReplyDeleteHappy reading and thanks for stopping by my follow Friday!
Yeah, like you I don't think what I read is based on my mood but how much I read definitely does.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't gotten the hang of reading more than one book at once. I tend to pick up one book and just read it straight through to the end.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!

I'm glad your happy most of the time as well. :) I'm a one-book-at-a-time kind of girl. It's really interesting seeing all of our differences and similarities.
