Top 10 Favorite Authors In "fairytale and retellings"
@The broke and the bookish.

Heart's Blood (Whistling Tor, #1)1. Juliet Marillier. Heart's blood is her retelling of Beauty and the beast. I want to re-read it soon, so I can write a review about it. Her first book from Seven waters, called Daughter of the forest, is based on The swan princess. I'm actually thinking to re-read them too for the... 6th time or something, just so I can share them on my blog. All her other books have that magical feeling you always have in fairytales, so definitely take a look at them :) Wildwood is one of my favorites and it's about The twelve dancing princess

2. Cameron Dokey. Her books are part of the 'Once upon a time series', written by several authors. I still have to read some of her books, because I adore them, but here are the books I've read and reviewed so far:
The wild orchid: retelling of Mulan.
Sunlight and Shadow: retelling of the magical flute.
Three books: Beauty sleep: retelling of The sleeping beauty. Belle: retelling of Beauty and the beast. Golden: retelling of Rapunzel.

3. Jessica Day George. Her first book is based on The twelve dancing princess. The second one is loosely about Cinderella. They are adorable! I can't wait for part 3.

4. Jackson Pearce. Fathomless has been published and I want it! I loved her spin on Sisters red, about Red Riding Hood, and Sweetly.

Tiger Lily5. Jodi Lynn Anderson. Tiger Lily is in my top 3 of favorite books this year and definitely in the top 10 of favorite books ever. It's amazing. No words can describe my love for this book.

6. Alex Flinn. I'm currently reading Bewitching and it's great! I definitely liked Beastly and I've also read A kiss in time, which is about Sleeping beauty.

7. Marissa Meyer. Cinder was such a unique twist to the fairytale. The writing style was great and I'm waiting for part two, Scarlet.

8. Zoë Marriott. The only book I've read so far has been The swan kingdom and it's lovely. She has several other books I can't wait to try.

9. Heather Dixon. Entwined is my favorite retelling from The twelve dancing princess so far.

10. A.C Gaughen. I wished that this book got more publicity. Scarlet was great. A kick ass girl in a retelling of Robin Hood.

  4. We did the same genre! And what is awesome, is that you have listed authors that I didn't so I have all sorts of new books to try out. I love fairytale retellings.

I love Jessica Day George. But you have to give Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow a try. It is my favorite George book.

I have been hearing lots about Juliet Marillier lately. I need to read some of her books, but particularly the Beauty and the Beast one.

I haven't read Scarlet yet, but I definitely want too. I am a sucker for Robin Hood. Loved that tale when I was a kid. And still do :)

  18. Oh my, yes! I totally agree with you on Scarlet. Seriously that book was awesome. It's just sad it didn't get that much hype as the other retellings. Still I'd love to see a follow up of that book, if there ever is one.

Love Melissa Meyer too and I can't wait to read Tigerlily by Jodi Lynn Anderson... and how could I forget Cameron Dokey? Love the twists she makes with the Once Upon a Time books.

Thanks for stopping by my top ten.
