Mel in Movieland | Books-to-movie, part three.

Welcome to my new feature, where I will be coming books and movies! I bet you can guess how I came up in the name, but in case you aren’t; Alice in Wonderland. You can find my inspirations in this post Fairytale news: other content.

I know that I'm a day too late, but I had a Sinterklaas celebration yesterday (that is a holiday here in The Netherlands :)) But I still want to share this with you. I have found quite some books which are rumored to be filmed. Here is the list with some possible books-to-movies: (click on the titles and you are taken to IMDb)

-This dark endeavour: The apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein.
-Darkfever.
-The Passage. I'm reading this book at the moment and while I think that the concept is great for a book, I'm not sure how this is going to work out on the screen.
-And this one scares me so much: The book thief. You know that this is one of my favorite books if you've read my review and you also can see that it makes me nervous by reading my Feature and Follow from a while ago.

What do you think about this list? There are some more titles, but I will be using them next week if you find this interesting enough :)

And I've saved the best. There is going to be a television show about Dracula and Jonathan Rhys Meyers is casted as Dracula! *swoon* The date is set on 2013 - ..., I can't wait.

  2. I actually hope My Name is Memory doesn't get made into a movie. I really did not like that book. The Night Circus would be great though... And the Book Thief?! Oh god. I love that one. I don't want people to ruin it!

    1. I also wasn't a fan of My name is Memory. I hated the ending. And that is exactly why I am so afraid. They must not ruin The book thief, because that book is wonderful.

  3. Oh, Dracula! <3 I seriously can't wait. What is it with those gloomy depressing creature and their super long cloak? Something strangely addictive, I must say! ;) And OMG, The Night Circus!! x) I love that book like crazy and I hope that the movie will do the book justice. Although most of the time, I got my hopes up and got it crushed after seeing the movie. *sad face*

Let's cross our fingers for the movies to come! <3 Thank you for sharing the news, Mel! <3

  7. I can't imagine how The Passage would work as a movie either - they would have to make some serious adaptations!

Oh, and Happy Sinterklaas for Wednesday :-D

  8. Is it really sad that the first thing I think of when I hear I book I loved will be a movie is: "Oh gosh, I hope they don't mess it up." And secretly I think that they probably will. :\ Having said that, I am REALLY excited to see The Giver on this list! Also, that Dracula show sounds SO good! I like TV more than I like movies nowadays, so excited it's going to be a television show. :) Thanks for this list, Mel! That's a lot of books potentially being made into movies.

  9. Happy Sinterklaas!! Admittedly, I'm not entirely sure what the celebration is, but I hope you had a wonderful holiday :)

I AM SO EFFING EXCITED FOR THE POTENTIAL OF A DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE MOVIE!! Provided the right people make it, because it's such a beautiful novel and I will be furious if they ruin it or the rich world Laini crafted looks cheap on film haha.

Unwind would be great as a movie, I'd be eager to see some of the more disturbing scenes played out on screen.

Ooh yes, The Night Circus too! If the right director nabs it, it could be a magical experience.

Sooooo excited for so many potential YA films!

  14. I love book-to-movie adaptations - when they are done WELL. I hate when they screw it up. I have to wonder how some of these books will fare as movies if they do end up making them because some are less suited than others. I think Daughter of Smoke and Bone would be a very difficult movie to make, for example. But I would LOVE to see it on the big screen if they could do right by it, of course!
