Q:Tell us about the most emotional scene you’ve ever read in a book – and how did you react?

After reading this question, I immediately thought of 3 different scenes that broke my heart.

1. The death of a character I grew to love in The Book Thief from Markus Zusak. Everybody who has read this book; I think you know who I'm talking about.
2. SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ HP (and if that is you, go read it!) The death of Severus Snape, my all time favorite character from Harry Potter from J.K Rowling. WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME, ROWLING? :'( And his chapters are gorgeous.
3. The ending from Tiger Lily from Jodi Lynn Anderson, especially the letter from Peter Pan to Tiger Lily. I knew how it would end, but I didn't want it to happen.

I cried on the inside and I was close in real crying, because I definitely had tears in my eyes :p I'm so weak sometimes. The next thing I did was talking about these scenes to everbody - several times. I think I drove my sister and boyfriend nuts, haha.

So, leave a link to your answer! :)

  1. I still have yet to read TBT, but I'm hoping to at some point this year. Although I'm scared about the death now...

Ahh, Severus Snape was a complicated character, wasn't he? The deaths in the final book had me all tear stricken. :'(

    1. I loved him from the beginning, but the fact that he was even complexer than I thought made him more awesome :D

  2. I had mixed feelings about Severus Snape...

  3. Hopping through. Snape's death didn't affect me the first time I read it other than shock, but it is more emotional after reading The Prince's Tale chapter.

  4. I threw my book across the room when Snape died. And when Sirius died. And when Dumbledore died. And when Fred died.

No joke. Those last few Harry Potter books took a beating.

  6. Yup, Snape's death is a tough one

  7. Snape's death is a good one. I haven't read Tiger Lily or The Book Thief yet but I do have TBT on my shelf to read someday.

  8. Harry Potter is the answer to everything! I forget to mention it at times, because to me it's so obvious that I try to go with my not so obvious answers! Plus it's hard to think through all the books I've read during my lifetime! But yes, Harry Potter definitely evoked a LOT of different emotions from me! Hedwig, Dobby and Sirius the most, and then yeah, with Snape at the end, I think I did acutally cry!

And ooooh Tiger Lily! I remember that one now, having read the ARC last year! Totally got a little weepy too with that ending, but I did like/love it! Love that book!

  10. Gah, I still need to read THE BOOK THIEF and TIGER LILY! But I agree: the death scene of Snape was so, so sad. D; Especially when you found out he wasn't a bad guy and you really liked him after all! *sniffle* I also found the climax of EVERNEATH by Brodi Ashton incredibly sad - I cried. Like, tears flowing down my face. That book was really good.

  11. Snape's death was SO sad. You're right. I've been looking at a lot of the posts for this week and Harry Potter is the most common but it's always about the end to the final book or Dumbledores death but no one's mentioned Snape's. That one really upset me. He was such a complex character.

  12. SNAPE!! Oh I cry everytime I read that scene. So sad. Thanks for stopping by :)

  14. Haven't read The Book Thief yet but hope to do so soon. Ah...... HP... Too many deaths I tell you. Too many. Dobby's and Fred's hurt me the most. Snape's was just really emotional.

Thanks for dropping by my FF!

  15. I haven't read TBT or Tiger Lily yet but I agree with you on HP and that wasn't the only one that brought out emotions in the series.I get super emotional with books too! :-) Thanks for stopping by my FF.

  16. Oh yes! I had forgotten about the Book Thief. Yes, I cried...sniff, sniff...

You are not missing anything by not reading Pushing the Limits. It's a total cliched book but that one scene moved my insides. Maybe I had my menses that night :-)

  17. Severus Snape's death left me shattered! I was so sad... And after reading The Prince's Tale in Deathly Hallows, I had a serious emotional breakdown! I haven;t read the other books you;ve mentioned, but lovely answers!

  19. I LOVE talking about my miserable feelings after these heart-wrenching scenes. I drive my sister crazy, too. ;) I completely agree with you on The Book Thief and Snape's death. I'm still not over the latter of those!

  20. The Book Thief was SUCH an emotional book. That scene made me cry, too! And at least one other person mentioned Tiger Lily. I need to read that.

    Thanks for visiting!

  21. Completely agree about the HP and Book Thief scenes! Snape broke my heart in the last book. Thanks for visiting my FF! Old follower.

  22. I was so angry at JK Rowling for so many things in that book!! Gah! I haven't read The Book Thief, I'll have to check it out!

    Thanks for visiting my FF!

  23. Great answer. That makes me want to go read the Book Thief and Tiger Lily. Of course I have already read HP. Old Follower. =] Thanks for sharing and visiting my FF. =]

  24. Oh man, that part of The Book Thief makes me bawl every single time :( I didn't cry when Snape died, because I think that it ended his story perfectly (which sounds weird, I know) but I was very sad, and the chapter of his life story is probably my favorite of the entire series (together with the Battle of Hogwarts). And I can't wait to read Tiger Lily! I realize the ending will be sad, but I like books that make me cry! :)

  25. New follower. I didn't cry when Snape died, but I thought it was terribly sad. He didn't have a very happy life. It was nice that Harry named a son after him. Of course if Snape was alive he would probably snark about it.

  26. Book Thief and Tiger Lily are high up on my 'to-read' list! Oh and I went with a (few?) Harry Potter moments myself this week too :D Your moment is a good one, it was so sad & unfair! Thanks for sharing!
