ReplyDeleteYou can find me here: Jen @ YA Romantics
Ohh boarding schools! Yes, I didn't think of that. I always enjoy books set in a boarding school, more so when it's a paranormal romance book set in a boarding school.
ReplyDeleteMythology is a good one too.
Juliet Marillier = My favourite author. Yes. Just yes. I love almost all of her books too.
Awesome list! A lot of great words.
Yeeey! I always like to meet other Marillier fans :D
DeleteGreat list! #3, 4, 6, 7, 8 (mostly zombies), & 10 all get me as well. Anything with "asylum" in it makes me want to get it right away.
ReplyDeleteFairy tale retellings are on my list too, and I'd love to read more historical/Tudors books! :) My TTT list: http://aliceinreaderland.com/2013/04/29/topicsword/
ReplyDeleteAlice @ Alice in Readerland
My daughter is a fanatic about fairy tale retellings, too. I appreciate your list.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! :D
DeleteOh yes, totally with you when it comes to fantasy and magic and boarding schools (especially when you combine all those!)! And of course I love fairytale retellings if maybe not as much as you :)
ReplyDeleteCombinations are even better ;)
DeleteSounds like an AWESOME day :D I hope you have the best time ever sweetie. <3 And ohh. Awesome top ten list ;D Fairytale retellings are aweeesome. <3 And Dystopia. And Fantasy. And pretty much everything you mentioned :) Thank you for sharing. <3
ReplyDeleteI don't like retellings but I'm happy that someone enjoys! :) Also fantasy is first for me! :) Great list :)
ReplyDeleteYes on retellings, science, fantasy, and mythology! :) Those words really make me grab a book and feel tempted to pick it up. My list is over here.
ReplyDeleteOhhh retellings and mythology always grab my attention too. I love when an author can put an awesome new spin on an old story!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I didn't include 'asylum' :| I like the creepiness of it. And dystopia (thankfully, I added that). And the Victoria era. I've only read The Infernal Devices, though. And I totally agree on the paranormal! Vampires, werewolves, witches, zombies - even better if they're all together, haha!
ReplyDeleteI think I can relate to you with most of these! Dystopias, sci-fi, boarding schools, fantasy/HF, zombies, and mythology all attract me. Whenever I see books that fall into that genre, I must have them!
ReplyDeleteI was just reading about your new king! Sounds like such a fun day! I agree with many of your picks this week. "Asylum" is awesome...I wouldn't have thought of that one. Fun list!
ReplyDeleteYou have so many items making me say "Yes!!" haha Some I never thought of. Thanks for stopping by my TTT :)
ReplyDeleteSheri @ Perks of Being a Bookworm
Great list!! I've tried reading steam-punk, but its just not my thing for some reason. Re-tellings where also on my list :D.

Hahaha. That retelling/fairy tale is not a surprise at all :D I like basically all the same things only they're in a different order, although, I do love me some contemporary :-) Fantasy/paranormal/dystopia/a little sci-fi will always have a place in my heart though:-)
ReplyDeleteI've found some contemporary books that look interesting, so who knows. I might end up with some books I like after all, although it's not really my favorite genre.
DeleteI love Victorian and Steampunk as well. Some recommends: A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray, and Airborn by Kenneth Oppel. Great list!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT :)
Thanks for the recommendation! A great and terrible beauty is already on my list :D
DeleteYes to fairy tale retellings (I forgot to add this one to my list) and to fantasy/magic and boarding schools and asylums and victorian and steampunk.
ReplyDeleteWe have mythology in common. ;)
Words or topics that instantly make me buy a book
Boarding schools are like the actual best setting ever!
ReplyDeleteI love re-tellings and mythology, too. And boarding schools was my first pick. I do love the Tudor period, as well. Such an interesting time. Great list!
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT
There are not enough dystopian board school books. Of course, I think that there can never be enough of those tropes.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your list! Some differences, some similarities! I love fairytales, mythology, fantasy, and yes, the Tudors, even though I don't read as much about it as I'd like! Such a fun list! :)

Sierra @ Yearning to Read
Thanks for the follow! :D
DeleteExcept for the inclusion of Juliet Marillier, I pretty much have the same tastes as you in books. Being an environmentalist and science person, I love everything dystopian and medical. Can. Not. Resist.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten Tuesday post!
Sana @ artsy musings of a bibliophile
How could I forget about boarding schools and asylums?! That makes me want to read a book instantly!! I also love fantasy and historical novels, though I'm more into the Victorians than the Tudors ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
hehe #1 :) I definitely agree with 2, 3, 4 and 7 (but I like all of them). I really need to read a book by Juliet Marillier. A few of her books have grabbed my attention, I really should prioritize one of them! Great list!
ReplyDeleteYou should! :D
DeleteWow, we have a lot in common. I forgot about boarding schools, those are always fun (and I guess Harry Potter falls in that category).
ReplyDeleteYes, HP is one of them!
DeleteI don't think I've ever read a good asylum book and now that you mention it I need to!! That sounds creepy and fantastic!! Cool list :) I definitely figured retellings and mythology would be on your list!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by My TTT
Great list Mel! We have pretty much the same ones! (Go us!) I forgot steampunk though and I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT!
Jessica@Lovin' Los Libros
*HIGH FIVE*
DeleteYay, I'm not the only one with retellings on their list :)
ReplyDeleteWhoa asylum, why didn't I think of that?! It would be awesome to read about that and seeing all the mentally challenged people in there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT Mel! (:
Paranormal will always be my first love!
ReplyDeleteAsylum is a great one too!!
Thanks for stopping by my blog :)
I see we have similar-ish lists! (Need to check Steampunk out sometime though!) Nice :)
ReplyDeleteSteph @ The Unlikely Librarian
We also have similar lists. I didn't even think of asylum books, I agree those are fun. Thanks for stopping by my TTT.
ReplyDeleteLisaILJ @ I’ll Tumble for YA
Steampunk, fantasy and schools are three of my favorites also!!! Have you read Etiquette and Espionage? It's both Steampunk and boarding school!! I happen to like the adult series E&E is the prequel to, but either way it's good!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read it yet, but I really want to! Soulless was great, so I'm curious to read her YA work :D
DeleteYup to Magic. I love magic. Not exactly the paranormal kind (vampires, werewolves etc.) but I love witches - especially Jessica Spotswood's Born Wicked :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love Victorian/steampunk! And of course boarding schools are always fun to read about! I'm a big fan of Juliet Marillier too. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT!
I completely agree with you on majority on those. My top 5 would be:
ReplyDelete1: GREEK MYTHOLOGY
2: MYTHOLOGY
3: RICK RIORDAN
4: FANTASY
5: YA CONTEMPORARY
(I guess I cheated for those first 3 but... I'm just WAYY to obsessed with Greek mythology to change that ;P)
Thanks for sharing Mel! <33
Hahaha.
DeleteI agree with Dystopian! Last week I was at the library and I borrowed three dystopian books, just because they were dystopian. :)
ReplyDeleteBoarding school! That's a good one....
ReplyDeleteI like Victorian and Steampunk as well :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of these, especially fantasy/magic, the tudors and retellings! Why didn't I think of The Tudors? Great list, Mel!
ReplyDeleteI'm generally a little skeptical about reading someones work if they're getting compared to an author I love- it gives such high expectations and I don't believe I've ever felt like it was a correct comparison, but it is also a little hard to resist! (:
ReplyDeleteI agree, but I can't resist it anyway :p
DeleteGreat list, I agree with almost all of them. Medical... Not even sure I've tried it yet. :D
ReplyDeleteA book I would call medical: Partials :)
Delete#1. Fairytale (retellings)- yes, not surprising AT ALL. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI still like zombies too! :)
Oh my goodness, I love your list. The fact that you have Juliet Marillier listed makes you my new favorite person. Her books are AMAZING!! :)
ReplyDeleteFairytale retellings, books about magic, victorian books and mythology are all on my list too! I'm a huge fan about any books that involve boarding schools (and they always make me think I should have attended one), and period books fascinate me as well. Great list!
