WoW 42. Lady Thief.

Sometimes there are those hyped books that actually aren’t worth the time. Sometimes there are those amazing books that hardly get any attention. This WoW pick is an example of the last one. I absolutely adored Scarlet by A.C Gaughen. It’s a clever Robin Hood retelling, so you can imagine my enthusiasm when I got the news that it's going to be a series! And hello, have you seen the covers? Stunning!

Lady Thief. Expected publication: February 11th 2014 by Walker Childrens
16181630
Scarlet’s true identity has been revealed, but her future is uncertain. Her forced marriage to Lord Gisbourne threatens Robin and Scarlet’s love, and as the royal court descends upon Nottingham for the appointment of a new Sheriff, the people of Nottingham hope that Prince John will appoint their beloved Robin Hood. But Prince John has different plans for Nottingham that revolve around a fateful secret from Scarlet’s past even she isn’t yet aware of. Forced to participate at court alongside her ruthless husband, Scarlet must bide her time and act the part of a noblewoman—a worthy sacrifice if it means helping Robin’s cause and a chance at a future with the man she loves. With a fresh line of intrigue and as much passion as ever, the next chapter in Scarlet’s tale will have readers talking once again.
I already love it! What is your choice this week?

  19. Hehe, so this is one of those books where you're glad that it got turned into a series and not exasperated? Must be a good sign about how awesome the book is then :). I haven't read Scarlet yet, unfortunately. I saw it around the blogosphere quite a bit but just haven't gotten around it to just yet. Maybe the Lady Thief will push me to that one-click-Amazon-kindle edge? I agree with you: the cover is so, so stunning. I love love love the fonts, the colors, the contrast of the red with the blue, the knife in her hand, and the determined but fierce look in her eyes. So pretty! I hope it lives up to your expectations :).

  26. I do LOVE the covers for this series, but unfortunately the books (well, the first one) aren't really my thing. It was ages ago, so I don't remember why I disliked it too well, but I wouldn't continue. I'm glad its one you're really passionate about, though- when books are so fantastic and get so little recognition it's sad.

  29. Mel, does this book have any connection with The Book Thief? Just kidding. I haven't heard about this but when you said that this is a Robinhood retelling then I must check this out.

Done. Already shelved the book on my Want-To-read list on GR.

  30. EEK! I absolutely LOVED Scarlet and I can't wait for Lady Thief either! When I saw the cover reveal a while back I think I actually almost fell out of my chair with excitement! I think with Scarlet I was totally fine with it being standalone and thought that it was, but it was that rare occasion for me when I found out that it was gonna be a series and I was actually happy about it because I wanted to see Scarlet and Robin again!

  31. I totally want Marian and Robin together so I'm excited to see what will occur in this book!
