Epic Recs: December.

Maybe you've noticed that I'm slowly starting to come back and that's all because of my awesome grandfater & grandmother. They both have their own computer, so I can borrow their laptop as long as I need (yes, they are pretty modern!) I think I lost all the files I haven't stored on my back-up, like my list of unfinished series and my spreadsheet of ARC'S.. But I keep telling myself there are worse things in the world, I just hope I get my own laptop back soon!

epic recssssssssss

You might be familiar with this concept. It was created by Amber & Judith to push each other to read certain books. They’ve opened it up for other bloggers as well and I got a tweet from Juhina who is the blogger of Maji Bookshelf if I was interested to join her! December is going our first month and we’ll see how it goes from there on. I'm so excited :D

My recommendation for her:
Juliet Marillier – Daughter of the forest.
Like you might now, she is one of my favorite adult authors. This book is based on a fairy tale and it has Celtic influences. I can’t wait for her to meet Marillier!

My recommendation from Juhina:
Michelle Hodkin – The unbecoming of Mara Dyer.
I’ve won this book on Judith’s blog and I can’t wait to finally read it! This is the perfect opportunity to give it a try.

  5. Yay for being back!!! Both of them look good to me. Going to have to add Daughter of the Forest to my TBR. I've never heard of it before and if it is based on a fairy tale, I am in. :-) Fun idea...can't wait to read what you thought about each other's book.

  7. If you don't like TUoMD that much, don't give up. I thought the first one was ok, but the second one? BRILLIANT! I basically had to sleep with one eye open throughout the following week lol :D

  8. Yay your grandparents rocks! I also like this book club thing because it pushes one another to read especially if you're going through a slump. I was in an October slump (yes, A MONTH LONG SLUMP) which sucked, but I got through it because I just missed blogging + reading. I hope you end up liking the books that she recommended you! I'm planning on purchasing The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer soon! I heard it's super awesome. Happy read to the both of you!

  12. Yay for grandparents!

I really loved the Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. I agree it has some flaws, but the second book is just as amazing. These are the best psychological thriller books I can think of. They give me the creeps - in a good way!

  14. I haven't read Daughter of the Forest but I thought that The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was good! It's a book that messes with your mind a bit, but the ending was one of those "OMG" moments.

And I'll probably have to read a Juliet Marillier book at some point. You're always raving about them, haha.

  21. OH GOSH. Did you ever get your laptop back? I feel like I saw something about this and thought to myself 'make sure to check back in with Mel' and then I didn't and I hope everything has been going okay and worked out laptop wise!!

Oooooh, I'm so curious what you'll think of Mara Dyer. On one hand, having just come from your review of Pawn where you wrote about romance taking over the plot, I wonder whether that is going to be an issue for you in MD. I also can't see Noah being one of your book boyfriends. .... and I just clicked the GR link. I must have missed that review here. "In most books, that would turn me off. I wasn’t a fan of it here either, but there was something intriguing about Noah.

He sometimes bordered on the line of becoming an asscrown, but he wasn’t so bad overall. It was good that Michelle gave him more of a story, but it was also pretty cliched." -- AHA!!!!! I WAS RIGHT ON THAT END. But I was just about to write that I wondered whether the plot, creepiness and writing would outweigh those bits... and it looks like they did. YAY!!! If you missed Jamie in the first book, I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that he comes back in the second so you'll get to have more of him then :D :D :D. I hope you end up liking it!!

    1. My laptop died :( They made it the first time, but it broke down again and they couldn't fix it (at least not for a little price) So my parents end up buying a new one <3 Yes, it did and I can't wait for the next book!
