Blogging resolutions 2014.

Merry Christmas! I hope you'll all get to spend time with your loved ones. Have a wonderful holiday! I will be celebrating three Christmas days, because yes, we totally invented a third day. The first day is with my boyfriends mother, brother and sister. Second day I will be home and he will visit his father. The third day is with my father, mother and sister. I look forward to it and the last day we will be exchanging gifts :D

Today I want to show you my blogging resolutions. I don't have many, but it might inspire you!

1. The first one is immediately the most important one. Keep having fun! That is what blogging is all about after all. I truly enjoy blogging and socializing on different platforms. I want to be able to keep that feeling. I want to keep it stress-free - just posting when I can and want.

2. I want to try to keep up with my discussion posts. The reactions are so much fun and I think it adds something unique and interesting to the blog. I might include some more personal stuff, because that is also something I enjoy reading.

3. I want to succeed in my new reading challenges. I finished ALL of them in 2013 and I want to do it again. Some things I want to complete are: reading 120 books (GR challenge) and finishing at least 12 series.

4. I want to do something more spectacular for my upcoming 2nd blogoversary. I still have no idea what I want to do, but I'm going to brainstorm about it.

5. I spend a lot of time on commenting on other blogs and I hope to keep it that way. I like to spread love and show others that I appreciate their effort. I'm not sure if school is going to allow it, but I will try!

And, that is it actually. Do you have any resolutions? Yes, which one?

  2. Keeping blogging stress-free is definitely something we should focus on. Sometimes, we feel overwhelmed and pressured to write constantly or to double-check that everything is perfect in a post. I'm not saying that we should write sloppy reviews, but oftentimes we forget to have fun while we're at it. :)

On a different note, I wish a Merry Christmas! :D

    1. Exacty! Putting effort in your reviews/discussions is good, but you should not feel stressed or pressured to post something :)

  3. For blogging I just want to have fun and post what I want and when I want, and to not stress about it. I also want to comment a lot on other blogs. And yeah, we Dutchies are awesome for inventing the third Christmas day. Hope you have a great Christmas!

  5. I love your blogging resolutions, Mel. Mine is almost the same as yours but I am afraid to put them into writing because they might get jinxed and thus, I will not be able to fulfill them.

Your number 3 resolution is really making me nervous. I also challenged myself in Goodreads to read 100 books this year and goodness, I think I am going to fail since I'm still short of 14 books. I planned on cheating by reading novellas but that's really lame. xD Well, I am still not giving up yet. I know I can do this.

Merry Christmas to you and your fam. And wow, a 3 day Christmas celebration is just heaven.

I hope you'll be able to implement all your resolutions. But you shouldn't pressure yourself if you can't do all of them. Afterall, school and real life should always come first.

    1. I most certainly won't pressure myself, because that I would make me fail on number 1, which is my most important point of course ;) I wanted to read 110 books this year and I've read 145 so far. 120 must me do-able and if not, that doesn't really matter to me. It's about the quality of the books after all!

  6. Merry Christmas!
3 days of celebrating!? That sounds great, have fun!
Great resolutions. I plan to have the same ones as this year: buy less books (kinda made it, not really), visit library more (didn't manage but the selection is very limited, too!). Those are two biggest ones. I managed to read more than in 2012 and I plan to even more in 2014. :)

    1. Buy less books is one of my own resolutations for sure!

  7. Those are great goals! I hope you have happy holiday!

  8. A very productive and fun year ahead of you! And totally agree with number 1. Blogging should always be fun & stress free! merry Christmas, Mel. <3

  11. MERRY CHRISTMAS MELL!! I don't have any know if I have any blogger resolutions but when I think of them I am gonna try my hardest to stick to them!

Good luck with all of your blogging resolutions :)

  12. Well, making blogging resolutions sounds like a good idea, but I don't really keep them. At all. So as fun as it would be to do so, I'd better not.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Merry Christmas! I'm gonna up the reading and do some more discussion posts (hopefully I'll manage to stick with them, but I love blogging so that probably wont be a problem!) :)
I just added my email to your email subscriptions! Gotta support the fellow dutch bloggers right? (Well that, and I love reading your blog haha)

  14. It's late but since you're celebrating 3 days I am still going to wish you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS. I hope you have a great time.

I don't even have a resolutions list yet, I think I really should get working on that. Also it's great you're keeping the discussion posts, I think they're great. :)

  15. I've never looked at blogging as anything other than having fun. I mean, this is the point, right? Socializing and sharing your love for books with others. I don't want it to become something stressful because it'll make me quit and I enjoy it too much.

Wow, you completed ALL of your reading challenges? Lucky you! ;P I only had one (the debut author challenge) and I didn't finish it because I lost interest, haha. Oh, well, maybe I'll have more enthusiasm for a challenge in 2014.

Good luck with all your resolutions!!

    1. Yes, I agree, but often we seem to forget that it's supposed to be fun! We can pressure ourselfs sometimes by comparing us to others. Haha, yes :D

  16. I definitely agree with #1,2, and #4!! I want to keep doing those things, and I need to figure out something exciting for my blogiversary. I don't know what to do either!
I need to work on #5, and I DEFINITELY need to work on #3! I totally failed at challenges this year, I think I just took on too many :(

  17. I think you have great blogging resolutions. I am planning to put mine up for top ten tuesday. I completed almost all of my reading challenges this year and the ones I didn't. I'm okay with not completing. I wanted to read 50 books this year and so far I have read 63. I'm not sure what goal I should set for myself next year, but I'm signing up for the 52 books in 52 weeks challenges so my minimum will be 52, but I'm thinking of setting my goodreads challenge at 55.

  18. Great resolutions. ANd congrats on finishing all your reading challenges. I didn't even come close this year! :(

  19. Good luck with the blogoversary. Maybe I'll actually do something this year. Every year I intend to do something, but I can never come up with anything cool, so I just let it pass with a whimper. Whooooops.

  20. You have some fantastic resolutions. I am still working on exactly what I want to achieve next year, but I am sure that my resolution will look a lot like yours. To keep having fun with blogging is pretty high on my list.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I look forward to what will no doubt be an epic celebration of your two year blogging anniversary! I'm doing a blog hop about bookish resolutions soon so I'm still working on mine! Hope you had a great Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Those are fantastic resolutions! And well done on completing all your challenges! That is something I don't think I'd be able to do. I wish I had the time or the reading speed to read 120 books in a year! That's crazy!

Anyway, hope you achieve all these :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Great goals :) Having fun is probably most important. I'm actually so impressed that you can keep up with reading challenges. I've failed all the ones I've signed up for too often and now operate under a "read what you want when you want it" policy. Congratulations on almost two years! I also want to say how much I appreciate your comments. I know commenting takes a lot of time, but your comments in particular brighten my day. :)

  26. I know what you mean about wanting to keep it fun and less stressful on the blog, that's definitely one of my goals for the new year too. I know for sure that I'd like to comment more and post a few more personable posts so that my readers and followers can get to know me better and I also want to do less filler and more original content. :)

  27. These are awesome resolutions, Mel! I kept nodding to each one. Fun is a necessary one. And I agree on discussion posts! They're so much fun. I can never think of a meaty topic though and if I do, I never remember to go ahead and write it down, a frustrating loop I'm on. Yay! Two years of blogging next year and congrats on finishing 2013's reading goals :) I know you'll have an amazing 2014!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Completely agree with 1! It is so important that blogging remains fun and not a chore.

Congrats on finishing all your reading challenges this year! I've never participated in them but I'm sure they're lots of work.

Good luck Mel for the upcoming year <3 I always admire how you're able to keep up with your comments!

  29. Having fun is definitely one of the more important ones! I've made it my goal to relax more in 2014, because while I still had loads of fun this year, I got into a lot of reading slumps, one of which I am still in. Hopefully if I take more breaks and read more books for enjoyment then I won't get myself into so many.

Well done on completing all your challenges! Hopefully you can spur me on in 2014 :D

Your commenting skills are amazing. I am envious, because I bloody suck.

  30. Merry Christmas, Mel! Congratulations on completing all of your reading challenges for 2013. The one year I tried to do challenges, I didn't complete any of them, so major props to you for that! And yeah, you are a better blog commenter than most people. I wish I could do what you do!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I need to get back to writing discussion posts! I completely fell off that wagon towards the end of this year, but that just means time to start fresh :D Good luck on your goals!!

  32. Happy belated Christmas Mel!! I hope you had a wonderful three-day celebration and lots of love & bookish gifts :D I definitely need to get back into writing-discussion posts in the new year. I just didn't have time any more when I started working a lot more hours :( You do a wonderful job at it though so I hope you will continue on next year! Anyways I wish you success on all your goals,my bookish resolutions post isn't up yet but it's the next part in my year-end-wrap-up.

    Happy Holidays Mel ♥

  34. Melanie,
I just found your blog and I love it. Good luck on your resolutions! I also find book blogging fun. 120 books is a lot to read but it should be fun along the way!

  35. Those are great resolutions. It is hard to keep the commenting up on other blogs it does take a lot of time and effort! Goodluck in 2014!

  36. All of these are really great resolutions for the new year! I want to keep having fun and make sure blogging is low-stress in 2014, too. I'm always so impressed with how much commenting you do! I wish I was better at it because I really do love to do it. And I'm hoping to do at least two reading challenges next year, too. Yay for making reading even more fun!

  37. Great resolutions, Mel! And I agree, the most important is to keep having fun! And I really appreciate all the comment love you spread around the blogosphere...I don't know how you manage to do it! :) Yay for more discussion posts, too! Happy holidays and I hope you have a happy new year!

  38. 1. Oh yes! Blogging should be fun. I'm more and more in my element this way. No blogging stress.

    2. One day I'm going to comment on all your discussion posts because they're too good! As a reader I always find something you say that I connect with.

    3. Bah, I hardly finish mine. I failed DAC with 8 books instead of 12 and read 67 books instead of the original 100. One day I shall get to that 100 mark. =D

    4. Yay for your second blogoversary. It's such a great feeling! ^.^

    5. For the past month, I couldn't comment much but now I totally will be.

Good luck on all your resolutions, Mel!
