First impression: Literally.

You might have seen some tweets about this new concept, but I’m here today to share you some more information about Literally! This is a website that is loosely based on Goodreads, but it’s more about yourself and less about the community.  It’s still in b├Ęta version, but this is my first impression:

The first thing I really like are the badges! Every time you achieve something special, you are rewarded with a badge. It’s every time a surprise when you open your page to see you’ve collected another one. It feels rewarding.

Another thing is the great service from the Literally twitter account. So friendly and helpful! They truly listen and try to make sure that YOU get the best experience. They reply fast, so no endless waiting for your answer.

There is also this interesting way to help you find the best book for you: you let your books combat against each other in the TBR challenge until there is a winner! Or you can ask one of your trusted friends to help you figure out your next book.

There is also a fancy table that shows how many pages you read in the whole week. Today I got an overview from achievements I had last week and it’s very motivational.  Here you can see my reading progress from this week:

I’m not sure if there will be a rating/review option, but it’s definitely a good way to keep the drama away. You can post thoughts when you update the page or percentage you’ve read. Your account is linked to Twitter.

The website is very user friendly. It’s easy to navigate and I can’t wait to see all the options they are exploring. There are definitely some things I like to see changed, but some of those options are already in progress. Keep an eye on this platform!

    1. And if they have ratings, I hope they include half stars too :D Haha, yes, I think that's why I love the badges so much!

  11. I'm glad you made a post about this! I'm enjoying it so far... LOVE the badges but.. Right now I'm having a hard time remembering to update it! Since it's similar to Goodreads (at the moment), I feel like it's double-posting to keep my stats updated so I guess for me in the future, it may come down to a choice. But hey, it's WAY early on and it's still in beta testing so we know there are more features and fun things coming! :)

    1. I'm just figuring things out too. I don't think I will ever leave GR, but I definitely see this as a fun addition.

  12. Their user support is definitely some of the best I've ever seen. They're so quick about getting back to you, and really take the time to listen to your feedback. I have a feeling Literally is going to be one of my favourite sites!

  13. Like others, I'm having a hard time remembering to update it! If they had a mobile-friendly version or app, I think I'd be much better about it.

I've only gotten one badge so far, so seeing all of yours has me wanting to use it more so I can accumulate more!

Thanks again for the invite :D

    1. Perhaps they are developing it already. They are also busy with widgets and things like that :) And no problem!

  14. I love the badges too!! It's one of my favorite parts honestly :) I also like the weekly display. I don't think I will ever navigate away from Goodreads but so far Literally is a great website and I will continue to use it !!! Great overview!!

  15. Literally is awesome. I really like the set up and I love the weird badges (like update your reading progress on a hump day). I don't know whether I will change from GoodReads to Literally, but I'll definitely update both, if I will remember to do so. :)

  16. Looks really interesting, I'll have to try it out sometime! The badges are so cute and I love the thought that it is based on you and not the community.

  19. This website looks really promising! It's a little unusual that you can't rate books, but I like that it tracks your rereads as well. So jelly of all your badges, I have three haha

  20. Wow I love the look! Badges are kind of my weak point! :D
And the search options sound very good, what currently strikes your fancy. :)

  21. Oh, this looks interesting! I'll definitely have to check it out :)

  22. I haven't had a lot of time to look around but what I've seen is pretty cool like the badges! I've also been told that the they have a re-read feature(which Goodreads doesn't have!) and that the site admins take our feedback well to improve the site.

I have one more redeem code left so if anyone's interested, just tweet @nbookaholic. :)

    Great post, Mel-Thanks for sharing!

  23. I used to use this site called Get Glue where you would get badges when you went to a movie or watched a TV show. I loved the badges soooo much!!! I was addicted for a little while there. They would even mail you stickers of the badges you earned for free! Then I think I spammed people on facebook with it and stopped. :)

  24. I also recently got Literally and I totally agree that it's super user friendly. I can't wait to see all the things they add over time (hopefully some ratings). Great post!

  25. I haven't heard of this before, but it looks pretty fun! Just signed up to be a beta-tester, so hopefully I can start exploring the site soon!

  26. I want to join other sites but Goodreads, like Book Likes or this one. That will be a weekend project for me soon (maybe even this one!) Literally sounds super fun! The badges are cute and i like the idea of my books combating each other for my next read! Thanks for sharing this!

  27. I recently started used Literally and I do like it! I'm waiting until all of my books transfer over before I start really messing with the features, but once they do I plan on doing some exploring and seeing what I like/don't like. :) It's a very nifty website, and I hope they improve on things Goodreads hasn't really made an effort to improve on. I like that Goodreads is a community website, but sometimes I just like having my own little book info, all for myself. Great post!

  29. I've seen you talking about Literally on twitter and had been wondering what it is and boy, it looks AMAZING!
I love the badge idea - it reminds me of Pokemon. It was what kept me playing and invested in the game - collecting those badges and winning! :D
And I LOVE how much pages they show you've read; I wish Goodreads did that. Or maybe they already did that on Goodreads, but they make it super hard to find.
Thank you for informing us on your favorite features of Literally Mel! (:

  30. I'm loving Literally so far too! I'm especially optimistic that it's going to be a good site because of how easily users can give feedback. And, like Kelly, I've always liked games with achievements, so the badges really appeal to me :)

  31. How interesting. I haven't heard of this site yet, but I'll definitely give it a look now. I love those badges and the other features are interesting/helpful, too. Thanks for the introduction!
