Love-a-thon interview.

Book Blogger Love-A-Thon 2014
This event is hosted by Katelyn & Alexa. This is the 3rd time. If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s in short a way for authors & bloggers to share love! You can find new blogs or just give some extra love to your favourite blogs. It’s actually a day for bloggers and authors to come together to share fun! There are some mini challenges, twitter chats and giveaways. The first thing we all do is sharing our interview. I’ve been busy with the start of my minor, so I decided to go for the pre-made questions this year.

1. How did you come up with your blog name?
I am a Potterhead, so my name is a reminder of the newspaper 'The Daily Prophet'

2. What genre/subject matter do you read and review most on your blog?
YA: fantasy, fairytales & retellings, Paranormal, Dystopian. Adult: fantasy.

3. Name the 3 books you're excited for in 2014!
Ruin & Rising (Leigh Bardugo), Mortal Heart (Robin LaFevers), Heir of fire (Sarah J. Maas)

4. Where in the world are you blogging from?
A cold, small country called The Netherlands.

5. Tell us -- how did you get into blogging in the first place?
I've always loved to read and write. I started out on Goodreads where I found out about the blogging world. I decided I wanted to combine two of the things I liked, so I created this blog.

6. Apart from reading, what other hobbies/interests do you have?
Watching TV shows and movies, swimming, Disney, hanging out with friends/family/boyfriend, travelling, drawing and I spend a lot of my time on my laptop.

7. If you were stuck on a deserted island, which books would you bring with you?
So, I can have several books.. Let me think. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, because that is my favorite book from the HP series. The book thief, because that's one of my favorite books ever. A bundle of Grimms fairytales and Tiger Lily for all the feelings.

8. If you were stuck in some dangerous situation (like a fire, a sinking ship, a warzone), which book boy or girl would you want to come and save you?
I'm thinking about Allie from The immortal rules. She is a new-made vampire who sticks to her humanity. I think it's handy to have someone who doesn't die easily. She is brave, strong and intelligent. We could work things out. For guys, I think I would like Chaol from Throne of glass. I think he's able to keep his head cool, so I can freak out.

9. You’re attending a party with your friends. Suddenly, the DJ changes the song and it’s YOUR song – what song would that be?
I don't have a ME song, actually. Recently I'm in love with 'All of me - John Legend' because I think it has some perfect lines. 'All your perfect imperfections' that's how I like to look at things. And 'Let it go' from the movie Frozen, because I need to remind myself to do that every now and then.

10. What 3 movies would you love to have your favorite author write into books, or vice versa?Books to movies: Cinder, Throne of glass, Shadow and bone.

Are you participating? Leave a link to your interview!

  1. Awesome answers! I've always loved your blog name :)
I cannot WAIT for Mortal Heart and Ruin and Rising!!! I'm so incredibly excited for those.
Cinder and Shadow and Bone are among my favorites for movies as well. I was dying when I read Cress because I could practically see the movie playing in my head!

  2. Even though I didn't know the story behind your blog name, I knew it was related to HP. Obviously. Heir of Fire is on everyone's lists. Perfectly suited to match the news of the books 4-6 beind sold to Bloomsbury and I approve this answer so much! I can't wait to read it already. Oh, you like to swim? Yay! Me too. I'd bring all the HP books to an island and possibly some Colleen Hoover ones to bring me the feels. Haha, Chaol is everywhere as well and YES to this! I still need to meet Allie, but I hope that itäll be soon. TIR is waiting patiently on my shelf. Thanks for sharing the interview, Mel! :)

    1. I'm not surprised that everyone is waiting for Heir of Fire - and yes, such exiting news! I'm not much of an athlete, but I'm pretty good in swimming good. I love the feeling of being in the water and I don't do it as often as I should/would.

  3. I didn't know that your blog's name is based on Harry Potter, that's a nice tidbit there. And hooray for Heir of Fire (you like Chaol, right?).

  7. HAHA I KNEW your name was a Potter reference! :D I love it :) And I'm definitely excited for much the same books, although I have yet to read Throne of Glass (am I lame yet XD) And you do love fairytales and retellings, don't you? :D I love them too, and was actually named after a Disney princess myself (people usually think I was named after the flower, but my Jasmine is actually a Disney princess! I think I've told you this before :D) And YAY for spending time on my laptop! Whenever I do, it's usually to blog though! And I love 'Let It Go'! Recently just the covers though, especially the African tribe one. I have to listen to 'All of Me' first :) Thanks for sharing Mel! So sad I couldn't participate </3

    1. Yes, I believe you've mentioned it somewhere before. It's so cool that you are named after a princess. And I LOVE LOVE my fairytale retellings.

  8. Yes, they need to make a Cinder/ToG/S&B movie. Preferably all three, but if there would be a movie adaptation from any of those three I would already be so so happy. Although also very nervous, because sometimes movie adaptations go horribly wrong. I would NOT want that to happen.
Right now I'm also very much in love with the song All of Me, I just love the lyrics.

    1. They could go horrible wrong yes.. but let just imagine that they would be the best adaptations ever :D

  9. MORTAL HEART. Most anticipated read of the year. CAN. NOT. WAIT. *flails* Also I think all of your choices that you would bring to a desert island match mine, except I have yet to read The Book Thief, I know, I MUST!

    Your blog is beautiful :)

    1. Yes, you must :D The book thief is perfection and thank you, that's sweet!

  10. I finally know the meaning behind your blog name haha. I've always been curious but I always forgot to ask you. It sounds so cool and unique! I also like watching tv shows and movies besides reading. I also like to play video games besides that (which will I be doing next after commenting on other blogs). I found out the blogosphere through Goodreads, too! So glad I joined that website.

  11. I love the inspiration behind your blog name! I honestly had no idea, but now that I do, it's the COOLEST thing ever. Harry Potter inspired? Always a win with me.

Also, I love that your three most anticipated reads are also three of MY most anticipated reads. We have such great (and similar) taste in books, don't we? Your book-to-movie choices are also spot on, and I'd want to see them as films!

I'm obsessed with that John Legend song. It's SO GOOD. And it's just such a perfect description of love.

    1. Haha, thanks! Everything that has to do with HP is good :D I think we should talk about books, seeing we have these in common!

  12. I've always loved your blog name because hello, fellow Potterhead. Ha ha.

Yes, I'll be reading Graceling soon because of you and I cannot wait for you to read The Raven Boys. Fantasy is such an awesome genre.

    Heir of Fire high five!

I also found out about book blogging via Goodreads.

Yes, watching TV shows is a hobby. I believe it now.

I was fourteen when I read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, I think and it was so long I just wanted it to be over. I want to kick myself when I think about this and I so need to re-read Harry Potter.

    Chaol, yes.

Sooo, I watched Frozen yesterday and Let It Go is totally stuck inside my head.

Ooh, Shadow and Bone. It'd be awesome to watch it on the screen.

  14. Cinder would be SO cool as a movie!!! I'd definitely bring the HP books onto a deserted island and The Book Thief is a great choice, too.

  15. Throne of Glass would make such a badass movie! And Chaol is immediately who I thought of in a dangerous situation. (I am totally not obsessed...not obsessed at all...)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yes to Cinder, I actually just got my copies signed when she came to DC this week. She was talking about how the rights have been purchased for a movie. A script is written and it is just waiting for a director. I thought that was awesome! I like your comment about where you are from :) small cold place!

  19. So from this post I've basically garnered that we're twins separated from birth.

Your blog name is totally awesome. I don't believe I've ever commented on it before, but it's really my favorite thing. Harry Potter's amazing and I find this blog name to be a reference to Harry Potter without being totally obvious/cliché . Does that make sense? I don't know.

Heir of fire needs to be in my hot little hands ASAP. I'm dying without it. My life isn't the same without it.
    Totally not exaggerating here.

I live in Canada, not the Netherlands. It's kinda close?? Okay, not really :P

Alike you, I found about the blogging world through goodreads and I'm so glad I did.

Disney, swimming, travel and movies/tv?? You just described my entire life basically.

Harry Potter, Grimm's fairy tales and Tigerlily (this book gives you all of the feels) are definitely all necessities. Bringing them to a deserted island is simply logical. Though I got to say, Goblet of Fire is my favorite HP book.

Chaol and Allie are totally badass, making the perfect people to save you from any incoming disaster. Seriously, anything.

Frozen. Oh yes. That's all I can say about that masterpiece.

Throne of Glass movie? Now I'd definitely go see that.

    It's official, there's no doubt about us being twins. It's the only explanation [;

  20. I think I'm in love with your blog. It was the moment I saw "Potterhead" on the first question & then Order of the Phoenix as your desert island books. YES!

I absolutely agree with the Cinder movie - that would be fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Can't wait for Ruin and Rising!!! The cover looks so beautiful. Also, love that you are a Disney fan girl, too:)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Chaol is getting a lot of love today, always happy to see others swoon for him! CANNOT WAIT FOR ALL OF THOSE 2014 RELEASES! It was so hard to narrow it down to just 3. And I never knew the connection between your blog name and Harry Potter! I love it even more now :) Also - I have The Immortal Rules coming on audio so I shall know what you are talking about soon with Allie :)

  23. I agree on all your choices on book to movie adaptations, those would all be fantastic. And I am also really excited for Ruin and Rising, but this trilogy ending is a little sad! Thanks for stopping by my site and commenting! New Bloglovin follower.
