Mission impossible: Tackling series (update 3)

Naamloos123
I was talking on Twitter with Jasprit, Siiri and Aimee about their list of series and I thought it was time for another update! If you don’t know about this mission, you can read all the details in my Tackling series introduction - my first update & second update. With this mission I'm trying to cut down the huge amount of series I'm reading.

These are the series I hope to finish this year:
1. Gail Carriger - Parasol protectorate (Heartless & Timeless)
2. Rae Carson - The bitter kingdom (novella's optional)
3. Juliet Marillier - Seven waters (Flame of Seven Waters)
4. Jenni James - Fairy tale collection (Rumpelstilskin, Cinderella, Jack and the beanstalk, Snow white, The frog prince & Twelve dancing princesses)
5. Adam Gidwitz - A tale dark and Grimm (The Grimm conclusion)
6. Dan Wells - Partials sequence (Ruins)
7.Marie Lu - Legend (Champion)
8. Leigh Bardugo - Grisha (Ruin and Rising)
9. Mary Pearson - Jenna Fox chronicles (Fox Forever)
10. Lauren DeStefano - Wither (Fever)
11. Kendare Blake - Anna dressed in blood (Girl of nightmares)
12. Veronica Roth - Divergent (Allegiant)13. Julie Kagawa - The forever song (Blood of Eden)

These are the series I already finished:
1. Juliet Marillier - Seven Waters (6 books)
2. Dan Wells - Partials sequence (3 books)
3. Julie Kagawa - Blood of Eden (3 books)
4. Veronica Roth - Divergent (3 books)
5. Amy Tintera - Reboot (2 books)
6. Rae Carson - Girl of fire and thorns (3 books)
7. Leigh Bardugo - Grisha (3 books)

I have a list of not published, published, maybe & DNF series in Words, but I’m planning to transfer it all to Excel. I already made a start with my stats of finished series: (it's hard to track down all the series I've ever finished! It's fun though)

And since I love making lists so much, I’m also going to make a list with series I definitely need to read (soon/someday)

What about you? Have you finished any series lately? Any recommendations for series I definitely need to read?

  1. You've done great! I didn't know you were working on finishing series. I've actually dedicated my summer to it! And it's so hard. But looks like you're on a roll with it! Both the Fire and Thorns series and Legend series are on my list for the summer. I just recently finished two: The Grisha trilogy and Blood of Eden. I know you said you had mixed feelings on Ruin and Rising so I can't wait to read your thoughts on it! It seems you're off to a good start. Keep reading on ;)

    All the best ♥︎

  2. Great job! The Jenna Fox Chronicles is just amazing (I still have to read the final book) and so is the Wither trilogy! Ahh, you're going to read so many great books!

  3. You are so rocking this mission, Mel! I'm so scared to do an update post since I've basically.. well.. Not reached anywhere :D But I'm so glad that you are managing this task you've set for yourself so well and it's lovely to see that you've mostly enjoyed all the series that you've finished so far (based on your reviews). I hope you manage to go through all of these and if not all, then at least 90%. YOU CAN DO IT, LOVELY!

  4. I loved the Kendare Blake and Lauren DeStefano books. I hope you enjoy them :) I've finished quite a few series already this year which has really surprised me. Good luck!

  5. I finished the Legend series a few months ago and it was great! Not necessarily my all-time favorite dystopian series, but definitely a strong one and I hope you will be as satisfied by it as I was! :)

  7. I've decided to actually go in a totally different direction and this past weekend I deleted my Goodreads account, along with all my book lists-I no longer have a TBR list eep! I'm no longer keeping track of anything (I'm not even going to rate books anymore-it's getting all Matrix like over here, lol).

I did go through all of the series I had started, before deleting my lists, and decided that there were 3 that I wanted to continue with right now. So I've written down their new book release dates and put it in my library book bag. Otherwise I'm now totally free to read whatever catches my attention when I go to the library (I'm a bit scared out of my mind right now, lol).

  8. I'm totally in love with your Excel document xD Color coded and everything *drools* Definitely makes me want to make one, Goodreads just doesn't really work for me when it comes to stuff like this. Looks like you are making some good progress :) You have some good reads to look forward to!

  9. Oh man I don't know - but seeing my button on your sidebar reminded me that I need to pick a winner for it! *cackles madly* oh how exciting.

Sweet that you've finished 7 this year already! I have quite a few I need to catch up on or finish. Argh its never ending right. I should totally put together a list.

    1. It looks never-ending at first, but once you get started in striping series away, it looks more achievable :D

  10. I'm still trying to decide whether or not I'm going to list my to-read series down. x) I'm probably going to fail, anyway. I'm jealous of how organized you are, Mel! Look at all those colors, haha! You have to finish Champion & Girl of Nightmares. I loved both. ;)

    1. That's not the right attitude :D Just go for it and see how far you can come. There is no failing here, since it's up to you what you choose to do.

  11. I try to do a series post every year to see which series I'm working on and which series I want to read. Some series have made it on the list both years without me starting them. http://rachaelc94.blogspot.com/2014/01/series-2014.html. Slowly, but surely many of my beloved series are coming to a close. I have finished Divergent and the Mortal Instruments.

  12. Heh, look at you with your Excel spreadsheet!! Heehee, love how you have everything organized. Maybe that's what I need to do in order to crack down on some series I want to have read by the end of this year... I think you've just inspired me, Mel!

    1. Yeay! If you decide to go for it, make a post about it so I can see :D

  13. I really wanted to try to finish some series this year and so far I'm doing really bad at that but I'm trying to push other books aside so I can get some series books read, even if I don't finish them or end up completely up to date I at least want to chip away at them.
    Good luck on your goals!

  14. I love your spreadsheet! I planned on sharing my own on my blog soon too.

I'm also trying to finish more series and I'm actually doing pretty good (finished 11 so far) but I also started way too many >.<

  15. This is such a good idea! I have so many series I want to finish and want to start - I may have to join in on this. :D

  16. I will never be this organized, I read books when the mood strikes and these days that mood is not...striking? LOL I have so many series that already ended but I still haven't finished. I sometimes think just to binge read 'em since most of the series I left behind are the 'meh' ones. :(

  17. Wow your Excel file looks so pretty! I think if I made one so visually appealing I might make a point of using one! Unfortunately I just used Goodreads to track for me (they could stand to make their website a bit more visually appealing as well!) I don't really keep track of what series I need to finish so I'm afraid to look back and see what I haven't gotten too. It's usually through visiting blogs do I realize I haven't finished something that's all out! I need to be more organized! :)

    1. I made this list with Goodreads too. I just looked at my Goodreads challenges and wrote down all the series I started and how many books I read/had to go :)

  18. Look at you tackling series with your excel spreadsheets all efficient and whatnot. Way to go for making such amazing progress with this impossible mission! Every time you share your progress with these it inspires me to do the same...but then I think of ALL the series I have on the go and I get discouraged. SOME DAY I will follow your lead Mel :D Thanks for sharing your updates and keep up the good work ^^

    1. Haha, if you start with a list it is discouraging.. but when you see your progress in front of your eyes, it's motivating :D

  19. I'm trying to tackle this problem myself! I love the excel spreadsheet, I could probably use something like that myself. Such a brilliant idea! Good luck! :)

  20. I don't track series, I only recently started tracking what i read (outside of Goodreads) but I would like to. I can only imagine the series that have gotten lost in the abyss of my TBR that I would actually like to continue. But this is a project for another day. Anyway, you are making great progress!.
