Top 10 Tuesday 35. Favorite TV shows and movies.

I’m a huge movie/TV show addict, so this is hard to list down. I think it's time to cheat like I always do. I'm going to pile all the movies/TV shows I love that I can think of in this list. I'm always looking out for new movies/TV shows to watch so if you have any recommendations you think I might like, let me know!

OUAT1. Once upon a time. One word: fairytales. (Or another one: HOOK) I love the blend of fairytales and real life. It's fun to see a lot of fairytale characters with an unique twist on their original story.

2. Game of thrones. I'm reading the books as the moment and one of the things I like about the TV is that they made the characters older and most of the actors aren't bad looking.

the_tudors_wallpaper_1280x1024_33. The Tudors. I am fascinated by this time era and Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a great actor. I can only see him when I read books about Henry VIII. Anne Boleyn is also portrayed by a beautiful actress called Natalie Dormer. You might know her from GOT.

bglg4. Fairytales. This also includes Princess bride to me. Other examples are Maleficent, Beauty and the beast (2014, a French movie) and Ever after. I’m so excited for upcoming movies like Beauty and the beast with Emma Watson, Into the woods with a CRAZY good casting, Cinderella (March 2015), Peter Pan (with Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard), Pinocchio (Robert Downey Jr), Arabian Nights (Anthony Hopkins) and the list goes on. My heart is happy.

5. Animation movies. I’m not only a huge fan of Disney, I absolutely adore all kinds of animation movies. DreamWorks, Tim Burton, Warner Bros and 20th century Fox are some other names (which you might know from Anastasia)

Marvel-The-Avengers-Movie-2012-HD-Wallpaper-loki-211
6. Marvel. I’m not a fan of the Hulk movies, but I can watch all the others over and over without getting bored. Sassy Loki, sarcastic Iron man, the good guy Captain America; I adore all of them.

the-hobbit-wbp087. LOTR + The hobbit. The best fantasy movies if you ask me. They pay so much attention to the world and it’s beautiful to look at. I think I prefer The hobbit, because Bilbo is less annoying than Frodo and who doesn’t want to listen to Richard Armitage’s voice?

8. Sherlock. Not only the TV show, but also the version with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. I’m attracted to intelligent guys.

despicable-me-2-23055-400x2509. Steve Carell. He is a genius. From the TV show The office to his characters in movies like Dinner for Schmucks, Crazy stupid love, Evan Almighty and Date night. If he is in a comedy movie, I know I’m going to love it. There aren’t a lot of comedy movies that make me laugh, but some of them are The heat, Identity thief, Pitch perfect, 10 things I hate about you, Easy A, We're the Millers, 21 jump street, Bridesmaids, The Hangover (1-3), and The ugly truth.

10. North & South. I’m in love with the BBC mini series, but I think this one is my favorite. The story is fantastic and there is Richard Armitage. One of my other favorite is Jane Eyre (1983) with Timothy Dalton as Mr. Rochester.

Honorable mention: The big bang theory, 2 broke girls, Sabrina the teenage witch (I watched this all the time when I was younger), Charmed.

  1. I rarely watch tv, sadly. But I've given in and checked out GoT about a month or so ago. Unfortunately, I was only able to get through first season. Lame.

  2. I loved The Tudors too and I'm really looking forward to GoT season 5. 1 year to go, SAD WOOT. OMG, I also adore Loki and Captain America!

  3. Woo, your loves are my loves!! Of course I love anything with fairytales and I actually didn't know most of those upcoming fairytale movies you just named were being made!! OH, how exciting, cannot WAIT to see all those new adaptations! I am also completely enamoured with Pixar-Disney animation movies, Marvel, and LotR. I've never heard of North & South, but it sounds completely up my alley!

  4. Once upon a time is awesome! I've not caught up on it though, I really do need to get it together. Haven't met Hook yet, and from tumblr I can tell that he's an amazing character [; GAME OF THRONES IS AMAZING AND I WISH I WASN'T CAUGHT UP ON IT BECAUSE NOW I HAVE TO WAIT FOREVVVVER FOR NEW EPISODES GAH. Never watched The Tudors before, though it seems interesting. I do love historical shows so I'll have to give it a try. I do love fairytales too, so all of these retellings and adaptations are making me so excited c: Can't believe I didn't know about the new Beauty & the Beast featuring Emma Watson. She's one of my favorite actresses, so I'm sure it'll be fantastic. Yassss, I LOVE Marvel <33 All of their movies are fantastic and I want more. Do you know how awesome a Black Widow movie would be??? Totally awesome. I also love LOTR and The Hobbit (: Can't wait for the last Hobbit movie! Ended on a bit of a cliffhanger again haha. The special effects in those movies are beyond memorizing and beautiful. Sherlock is also awesome, though I need to get back into it. Is it bad that I don't like Steve Carell?? Lol I don't find him funny, more annoying :s But I do love Easy A. North & South, I've never seen it either. But it's BBC so I've got a high chance of liking it.

    Hah, I think I've deduced that we're twins [;

    1. You have some time to catch up. September 28th is the start of the new season and I'm so excited <3 Game of thrones is heartless. How can they leave us waiting for SO LONG? I believe they are planning to make a movie about Black Widow, right? Go see North and south, if only for Richard <3 haha. I think we are!

  5. Looks like you have some damn fine taste in TV. I don't get to watch much what with having a toddler but I agree with many of your selections!

  6. I haven't watched OUaT's latest season and I'm still catching up on Season 2 but I've already met Hook and I love him. And squee for GoT (I'm not planning to read the books yet), Sherlock (both the movie and the TV show), Marvel (don't do Hulk as well), Animation movies and Fairytales (yay for Ever After and The Princess Bride). I love your taste! ;)

  7. I love my animation movies too! Never too old for those! Once Upon a Time is one of my fave current TV shows as well! Can't wait for the next season!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  8. SHEEEEERLOCK AND OUAT YESS! I totally agree. I still need to watch the movie but I love the TV series and I have one more episode to go before I begin the long wait for the next one. OUAT is pretty awesome and Hook omg <33

    Fabulous list there! <33

  9. SHERLOCK
    DISNEY
ALL THOSE FABULOUS THINGS YOU'VE MENTIONED.

I don't even know where to begin agreeing with you! You have FABULOUS taste :D

I'll admit to not watching some of the tv shows you've mentioned though. Game of Thrones is sadly not my thing .-. I even tried reading the books (I bought a box-set a while ago) but I can never get into them *sigh*

    Fantastic list, Mel!! :)

  10. I loved The Tudors. So addicted to that show. I can't believe I forgot to list LOTR on my list, but yes, those movies are just so epic!

  11. I just started watching The Tudors last night! Although I did start watching it only for Henry Cavill though... And I'm slowly getting more attached to the Marvel films (I'm a DC girl at heart). I haven't seen any of the Hulk films yet, but I'm really not keen on Iron Man or Spider-Man.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ooooh I loved The Tudors when it was on TV. I should just rewatch the whole thing! Did you ever watch The Borgias? I once saw the pilot and wasn't that impressed but I kind of want to try again...

    1. Not yet, but I have the first season on DVD waiting to be watched!

  13. I'll admit it: I only started OUAT for Hook. Still waiting to get to his season, but I actually like it enough on its own!

I can't watch LOTR or the Hobbit enough - and Richard Armitage doesn't hurt that quest either ;) But really it's Legolas that's my favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yes, Once Upon A Time is so good! I was literally wrecked with feels that last season and I can't wait for more Captain Swan! And haha, Hook <333 He's fabulous! And he's so sweet and nice and every single time Emma was stubborn and didn't see how caring he was for her, I wanted to scream at her. And also claim him as mine haha.

  15. OKAY, I am a little ashamed now because I haven't watched a lot of the TV shows/movies you've listed down and I'm calling myself a movie buff. Ha, yeah right. Really need to get to watching more of these awesome-sounding shows!

    1. I've heard you rave about this series SO MUCH so I'm still wondering why I haven't bothered to give it a go yet. A lot of people I know love OUAT as well, and it looks fantastic. I'm still struggling through HIMYM but after I finish that and Merlin, I'll be sure to give this one a go. Then we can fangirl together! ;)

    2. Oh my gosh, I want to watch this so bad. Apart from the amount of tweets I see about it on my Twitter page, I've always loved good fantasy stories, and this one has to have one of the best plots and characters, since the show has such a huge fanbase. Also: GOREEEE. I love blood and violence, hehe.

    3. Hey, doesn't Henry Cavill act in this as well? If nothing, I'd watch the show just to see him. My ultimate celebrity crush. <3

    5. I kind of have a love-hate relationship with animated films. I've seen some good ones, and I've seen some awful ones, but on the whole, I agree that they're pretty magical. After all, I grew up watching Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and now there's Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph (amazing show, btw), and others. I'll always like animated movies, but I'll also always prefer live films.

    7. YESSSS. Well, more to LotR; the two Hobbit films were only okay in my opinion. The Desolation of Smaug was bad. I liked the cinematography and the special effects, but I hated that Peter Jackson decided to include a sub-plot of Kili and Tauriel. The romance between them is disgusting.

    8. Hehe, I want to watch Sherlock just to hear Benedict Cumberbatch's voice and see Martin Freeman's cute expressions. The two films with RDJ and Jude Law were pretty good, too.

    Great list, Mel! :)

    1. 1. YES. We must :D
      2. There is more than enough blood and violence. I think this show features some of the most spectacular deaths I've ever seen.
      3. Yep ;) He is Henry's side-kick, haha.
      7. Awhh, I kinda like their romance, actually :p

  16. Typically, I love anything Sherlock Holmes but I really can't get on with the modern tv version. I've tried, multiple times, but just can't seem to truly 'get in to it'. The modern film versions on the other hand, some of my favourite films! I think Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law make the perfect pairing.
    :-)

  17. I'm a fan of the TV Sherlock and the RDJ one too - they're different, but equally great.

Love Marvel movies! They're on such a roll lately.

    Great top ten :D

  18. Ummmmmm can we be best friends....? Because we have a lot in common when it comes to movies and tv shows! I absolutely love your list! :D

  19. I started watching Once Upon a Time but got distracted by other shows and was never able to finish. I did like the beginning of it though, and I know it gets even better throughout the seasons, so I might pick it up again soon! I just finished series 3 of Sherlock and it was SO GOOD. I wish their hiatuses weren't so long, but alas.

Marvel! :D I agree, I'm not a big fan of the Hulk movies, but the others I could watch over and over again (ha, I have). I have a huge soft spot for Loki, and really love Iron Man. I love Sebastian Stan and think he was wonderful in CA: TWS. I'm so glad people are loving this movie franchise and supporting it; they have movies lined up for the next 15 years haha.

    1. I had the luck to see all the season from Sherlock in one sitting, but now I have to wait like every other fangirl. Waiting is hard! I know, it's crazy, haha. I love that we have so much movies to look forward to :)

  20. I have to catch up on OUaT, I've left off somewhere at the end of season 1 or so. Good show in general. I love Steve Carell, obviously. :D He's awesome and so versatile!
I love cartoons as well, or animated films, they're totally kickass :D
And ofc, Sherlock. My love. Definitely not enough episodes! :)

  21. Game of Thrones!! I am obsessed with that show! I don't have enough time to read the books, and I don't think they're really my type anyway, but I think the show is enough anyway. I've pretty much spoiled myself on everything that's happened in the books so far, but I still can't wait to see what next season brings. It's crazy that there's still so much story to tell.

I will never grow out of animation movies! They are so easy and simple and fun to watch. I also love the Marvel movies + LOTR. My husband and I binge those movies all the time.

And North and South is a favorite of mine, too! How can it not be?? Hello, Richard Armitage. S-a-woon. That is a classic book that I definitely hope to read some day.

    Great list, lady!

    1. Yeaaay! North and south is also on my classic reading list :)

  22. First of all, how did you make those hearts? I've seen similar images on other blogs (where they take a logo, book cover, etc. and put it into a shape or distort it) and have wanted to do it! Second, have you seen Reign? It sounds KINDA like The Tudors. I used to be obsessed with Reign and then...now I'm not. Maybe someday I'll catch up. I seriously love most of your picks! N&S is one of my fam's favorites.

  23. LOL...Why am I not surprised to see Once Upon a Time (HOOK!) and fairy-tale adaptions on here? ;) (Although I will say Maleficent was absolutely wonderful!) And YES! Animated / Disney movies are THE BEST! (My favorites are Frozen and The Lion King! What about you?!)

And YES! Steve Carroll! The Despicable Me movies are absolutely genius! And I had no idea he was in Pitch Perfect - guess I'll have to have a rewatch and see if I can find him!

    Thanks for sharing Mel! <3

  24. I really enjoyed the first season of Once Upon a Time! I need to catch up with the rest of it! OOOH my gosh, the wait for Into the Woods is starting to feel like forever. I am so excited for that one. I'm going to have to check out North & South. I've seen it around before but i never realized it was a BBC show.

  25. Oh my, I don't think I've ever watched any of these shows!! 0_0 Granted I don't watch a lot of TV, but man, some of these sound really good!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm the same way Mel, I'm always looking for new TV shows to watch!!

I haven't watched The Tudors yet but I have been meaning to try it out... it sounds amazing.

And YES to Charmed and Sabrina <3 I adore both of those shoes :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes, yes, and yes. Steve Carell is just so... dynamic? Adaptable? There's a word for it but I can not for the life of me think of it. He can play so many different roles so well! I love all his comedies.

The Heat was hilarious! And Pitch Perfect is definitely one of those movies you can re-watch a few times. I really like rom-coms, which you don't see much of anymore :/ Confessions of a Shopaholic, The Proposal, and the like. Oh, and my favorite-Leap Year! You should watch that if you haven't :)

Oh gosh, I'm obsessed with Marvel. It's a huge problem. I have pillowcases, posters, etc. Loki!! And yes-GoT! I only recently started watching it and am already hooked. Still have yet to read the books though. I might once I catch up. Although I can't imagine some of the younger characters being even younger!

HOOK. Don't get me started on Once. We will be here for days.

  29. Haha! You and me both for Sherlock. ALL THE SHERLOCKS. I just love the different twists and the epicness of their undiluted genius. ;) I think I'd pick the RDJ version as top though. And I adore the Marvel universe. I completely forgot the XMEN on my list. *headdesk* I love them so much! I'm just going to slip them in "marvel universe" because they ARE marvel! >_<

    ReplyDelete
  30. EEEEP!!! OUaT :) Love it so much. And I agree! All the stories are so unique while similar to the original. It's so fun :) Heh! Animation movies yaaaas. And I love The Hobbit more than I love LOTR tbh :D Also, MARVEL!! Loki is my (anti)hero :D heh. Tom Hiddleston is just made of awesomeness. So many great series and movies, Mel! Someone has good taste ;)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I've not seen ANY of these *cringes* BUT, I do want to see Game of Thrones, I THINK, do I? I haven't read the books and all I hear about is death...:P

    ReplyDelete
  32. LotR+Hobbit, Sherlock (BBC + RDJ films) and Big Bang Theory are all some of my favorites as well! Oh and I adore Steve Carell too OUaT, GoT and The Tudors are all on my watchlist, I have the first season of OUaT all ready to go, I'm really excited to start in on it :D Wonderful picks Mel ^^

    ReplyDelete
  33. Basically this is a wonderful list :D I also agree with your honorable mentions: TBBT is so funny, and I LOVED Charmed when I was younger. I remember those episodes were usually on TV around midnight/ 1 am so I always had to record them :P I loved those witchy shenanigans and also own almost all of the books that accompany the TV show, haha.

    Great list, Mel!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sabrina and Charmed. I used to watch both religiously when I was younger. Was also a big fan of Once Upon a Time, but stopped watching it after a while, and just never got back into it. LOVE Sherlock. I hate that the wait between seasons is so excruciatingly long, though. :P

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thank you Mel for letting me know about our post! I love your list! I love Beauty and the Beast, Sherlock, the Marvel movies and Once Upon a Time. We pretty much could hang out and watch tv together and be okay with every channel or movie pick! I do need to catch up on Once though!

  36. This list is awesome! OUaT is hands down, one of the greatest shows ever ( save for their graphics, which suck)!

  37. Oh I just love how your love for fairy tales comes through the TV series as well. I didn't give Once Upon a Time a good enough chance, I think I watched 4 episodes but Ginny Goodwin was kind of annoying to me. Marvel movies are awesome for me!

  42. I love Once Upon A Time, but I'm only on Season 2! Need to watch more.. XD I haven't seen any of these other TV shows or movies, but I'll have to check them out. We've already established our mutual love for Disney, am I right? Hahaha! :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh North and South! Such a fantastic pick, Mel- I really loved how different that felt to other period dramas (I mean, I still love them, but this feels somehow different... perhaps because it's slightly more gritty whilst being captivating and lovable) and I could definitely watch that again sometime very soon! Ah, just thinking of it!
