Bout of books sign-up + goals.

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 18th and runs through Sunday, August 24th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. I'm not sure what I want to read, but I hope to finish at least 4 books. My idea is to finish 2 TBR pile books and 2 review copies:


I want to visit 10 new blogs every day and leave some comment love. I hope to join at least two challenges and you can follow my progress on Twitter with the hashtag: #dailyboutofbooks

  1. This is my first time joining :) And I chose 5 books to try and finish :) I love your choices!!! I read Days of Blood and Starlight. It was amazing!! I still have to read Dreams of Gods and Monsters though :p I'd love to be able to follow your blog on bloglovin, if you would like to join it :)

  7. Ugh, still in my reading slump so I'll just embarrass myself by failing miserably at yet another reading challenge; but wow, four books in a week is amazing -- all the best, hon! The first two shouldn't be that much of a problem to get through, though. ;) I've seen only great reviews for both Days of Blood & Starlight and Dreams of Gods & Monsters... even though they're pretty huge books.

    Can't wait to see your thoughts on these!

  19. It looks like you and I will both be reading Days of Blood and Starlight during BoB. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to read Dreams of Gods and Monsters afterwards yet; I'm going based off my mood at the time, but if I don't then maybe you can tell me what you thought of it. You can tell me if I should get my butt into gear and start reading DoGM. Then we can babble on about it together. :P

  20. I'm still contemplating about signing up. I just might.

    I've to finish a few ARCs myself along with reading a couple of backlist titles I've been wanting to (Stormdancer!).

    So excited that you're going to finish Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. Hope you love it! Also, pretty excited about Illusions of Fate and not about The Jewel. Gah.

  25. I love this idea, maybe I'll join it later on! I have no time now, in between introduction week and VIP week for the rowing association I'll be joining, but it sounds like a great way to keep up with some goals you set for yourself :)

  26. I never join these things because I can never find the time to actually tackle my TBR list! I hope you enjoy all of your books, though! I didn't enjoy much (didn't enjoy it at all) The Jewel, but I hope you do!

  27. Those are some beautiful books - such great eye candy!! This is my second boutofbooks and I am so terribly excited to start I couldn't go back to sleep after I saw someone tweet about it. I had to go and take photos of potential books that I want to read.

  30. Good luck Mel. I enjoyed Jewel as long as I didn't poke into the world building too much. I thought it was a quick, enjoyable read though. And I need to read those LT's books too, I'm so bad at finishing series even though I adored DOSAB. Good luck!
