(Fairytale) Retelling reading challenge 2015 sign-up.

The Daily Prophecy

Yes, this is happening! I contacted Debz Bookshelf (who hosted this challenge for three years) if it was okay to take it over. I’ve never hosted a reading challenge before, so it’s all new for me and I will try to make it as fun as possible! Here are the details:
  • The challenge runs from January 1st – December 31st 2015.

  • The goal is to read fairytale retellings, but if you want you can also pick other retellings. Think about: mythology or myths & legends. 

  • Here are a couple of books you can pick from: my bookshelf with fairytale retellings and Fairytale lists on Listopia. You can read Middle Grade, Young Adult and Adult books for this challenge.
  • Obviously, the book doesn't have to be published in 2015 and re-reads count.

  • There are 6 different levels you can aim for:
    -Prince Charming: 1 – 4 books.
    -Magic mirror: 5 - 9 books.
    -Big bad wolf: 10 – 15 books.
    -The wise princess: 16 – 20 books.
    -Wicked fairy Godmother: 21 – 25 books.
    -Bluebeard: you are killing it! 26+ books.

  • Every beginning of the month I will make a link-up post where you put all your reviews in and they will have fun/informative introductions.

  • It’s not a promise, but there might be challenges.

  • Most important thing: HAVE FUN and spread the word :) Let's tweet with: #fairytaleRC

    Hey :)
    That's actually a great idea! I totally enjoy reading fairy tale retellings and I would be glad to participate in this challenge.
    I want to ask if it's possible to join it even as an German book blogger. I try to write as many reviews as I can in English, but I think a lot of my reviews would be written in German. But if this isn't a problem I would be very happy to try to became "Bluebeard" :D

    This is exactly what I needed! I want to read more fairytale retellings next year but I didn't have a specific goal as to how many I wanted to read and stuff. I'll be sure to update my challenge page soon.

    I'm still deciding whether or not to do any challenges or not next year, but if I do I'll definitely be doing this one! I've got quite a few fairytale retellings sitting on my bookcase, so there's definitely a chance I'll do it! :D

    It's so exciting seeing everyone announce the challenges!! SO COOL. I saw one about round-the-world and I seriously want to do that one too...and this. ehhh, I have to decide if I'm going to sign up! I usually bomb out of these things. >.> So I don't want to be annoying/disappointing. I'll have to consider. (There are such a lot of awesome retellings coming out next year and goodness knows I'm still behind on older ones I want to read!)

    My only suggestion is to not end the linky until the end of January. I do not join challenges until the beginning of January because I like to wrap up the current year before I announce my challenges for the next year so this challenge will be in my draft challenge post, but I will not publish or join until January.

    I've never done a reading challenge before, but this one actually seems doable for me :)
    How does one do a reading challenge? Do I have to make a page for it or can I just keep track on a goodreads shelf?

    Hi Mel,

    as I asked Kücki to inform me about some challenges she compets in 2015 she told me about your Challenge first and after a quick look, I decided to take part too. Right now I created an overview about all the Challenges I participate in 2015 but afterwards I will create all those update posts as well and then I will link it above. But I take part for sure and it is an awesome idea!
    My reviews will be in German as well or they'll be bilingual if i read an English book. :)

The rest of the books in my Timeless Fairy Tale series are also retellings so feel free to include those as well. I (probably obviously) love fairy tales, so I think a challenge like this is a fantastic idea!       I've just signed up for this challenge - can't wait! - and I've read 3 of the 4 books in K.M Shea's Timeless Fairy Tale series. I'd highly recommend them! I couldn't put them down :) Plus she has some great insights on her blog into the original fairy tales.

      Oh, phooey. I managed to find the linkup pages for the months I wrote reviews in, but the linky widget is closed to new entries for all of them. Do I have to link in the month I posted the reviews, or can I stick several older in the current (or next) linky widget?
