Retelling December '16 | Giveaway puzzle.

Don't forget to tweet and Instagram with the hash-tag #fairytaleRC.

The end of the year is approaching and I want to thank everyone for joining for a second year. This is also my announcement that I will not host the challenge in 2017. I'm taking a break, so if anyone is willing to host it next year, feel free to let me know in the comments. I might come back in 2018, but I feel uninspired and there has hardly been any feedback, so I'm taking a step back for now.

I still want to reward all of you by giving away a prize. Last year I made a bingo card for December, this year I went with a puzzle to combine with a giveaway! There are two simple rules:

1. You must be a participant of the challenge. Just add a link to your challenge page and you are good to go. (This means you need to have a page made before December)
2. You must figure out the answer to this puzzle.

CLICK on the picture to make it large.

I hope you are all familiar with the concept of a Swedish puzzle, but in case you are not I will explain it. I will give you clues and you have to fill in the answers in the field of the corresponding number in the puzzle. If you’ve managed to fill in all the answers, you must look at the coloured fields and the letter in there. You place these in the coloured line on the bottom of the puzzle and you will get a special word/sentence. As you can see, there are double colours in that line. There are two light blue, purple and light pink squares, because these contain the same letter. The black square is to make the distinction between the different answer fields more clear, because it first looked like 24 was just one huge line.

I think we are good to go! The puzzle is Disney themed (of course)

1 horizontal: “Under the sea.”
1 vertical: Red head who loves brchery.
2: Poisonous fruit.
3 horizontal: a skilled technician, was able to build his own solar surfer.

a Rafflecopter giveaway Please, make sure you follow the rules. Cheating is off no use and it only takes more time for you and for me. It’s also important you are >18 or you must have permission from your parents to enter the Rafflecopter. Your personal details will be deleted after I’ve send you the prize. The giveaway is international as long as The book depository ships to your country. The price value is 10 euro and it must be a (fairytale) retelling.

  1. I've read twelve retellings so far, hopefully more before the year is done!

  2. I read 6 this year. Just to let you know when it comes to putting in the answers to the puzzle there is no textbox, but I figured it out.

  3. I want to thank you so much for hosting. I have not put the effort into blogging this year that I have in previous years and did not participate in challenges that much. I wish I took the time to give you the feedback you deserve and participate in the challenge because you did have fun things planned. I love this challenge and hope you will bring it back at some point in time, but I totally understand the burn out and that is why I stopped hosting challenges. It is a lot of work.

  4. Do we post the links to our December reviews here in the comments?

  5. Oh, and I've read 8 books for the challenge. :)

  6. I'm so sad to hear you won't be hosting this challenge next year. It won't be the same without you, Mel. :( But I hope someone decides to host it because it's a magical challenge - sadly, no matter how much I'd love to host it, I don't have enough followers (I'm hosting a giveaway and after a week only two people participated and I keep annoucing it everywhere).

Quick question: Where are we supposed to write down the answer to the puzzle? It´s because I didn't see a place to write it down on the giveaway question. Are we supposed to write it on the comments section? I'm sorry if I'm annoying. I had fun doing the puzzle. :)

    Happy readings! ;)

    1. I clearly never thought this through, haha. I thought people could use paint or print it out?

And I am happy to hear you enjoyed it so much. I am sorry for not hosting, but perhaps in 2 years. It doesn't give me as much joy and inspiration as last year. I need to get out of this slump.

  7. PS: Sadly, I only read 15. My goal was 26 and I don't expect Reading eleven books before the year ends.

  8. I thought I was signed up to the challenge, but then remembered I'd had trouble linking up. Shame because I've read quite a few retelling this December haha, oh well. Anyways, enjoy your break from hosting and hopefully you're slump-free soon! Who knows, maybe you'll be sparked to do it again the year after :)

  9. I read a fair few retellings in December bringing my yearly total to seventeen! Not as many as I wanted, but not bad!

  10. Ahh :D I feel pretty sad that I missed this, aw. I just did not comment anywhere in December, and did not look at feedly at all :\ Ugh. I'm sorry for missing this sweetie. <3 All the hugs. You are amazing. I was the worst at this challenge. I'm sorry. I'm just not good at challenges at all, lol :) But anyway. You are awesome :D

  11. The year totally got away from me and I didn't keep up with linking my reviews. It's a fun challenge, so I'm sorry you're taking a break, but I get it too. I've debated hosting a challenge, but I'm not sure I want to commit. At this point, it has to be something easy for me to host and contribute to. And it's a little late to start one. Maybe next year...
